Arrow Bamboo, or Metake, Green onion bamboo (Pseudosasa japonica) 60-80cm

Pseudosasa can be clump-forming or spreading bamboos with hollow canes and dark green, lance-shaped leaves; panicles of green or brownish flower spikelets may appear at any time of year.

It is a vigorous and tough, spreading, evergreen bamboo to 6m in height, forming a thicket of green canes with copious narrow, shiny green leaves to 25cm in length

Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade.  Can be invasive.  To maintain vigour apply a balanced fertiliser at least once each growing season.  After flowering cut back hard and feed using a balanced fertiliser.
